Owens goes to Buffalo
Sorry for the delay in this, but well, we just had trouble believing it ourselves. We thought it was just a bad dream we had when we lost that hour of sleep last night, but it looks like it’s real. The NFL’s Terrell Owens is now in Buffalo.
Word is Buffalo fans have met this move with mixed reactions. The reactions were along these lines: Wait, we still have a team? Does Jim Kelly still play? Thurman Thomas?
Okay, in all seriousness, the decision by Buffalo to sign troubled wide receiver Terrell Owens did come as a big surprise to us at PSWU and to those around the league, especially to Buffalo fans who over the past few years have gotten tired of hearing the team say they are committed to bringing in talent to help, but fail to do so.
After all, Buffalo hasn’t had a winning record since 2004, hasn’t been in the playoffs since 1999 and hasn’t won a playoff game since 1995. Fans have become understandably upset.
So is signing TO the cure to what ails the Bills? Not hardly. But he offers them something unique in a talented, veteran wide receiver. He makes those around him better. Jeff Garcia was a pro bowl quarterback three years with Owens as his top receiver He’s been sufficient since then, but took a four year absence from making the pro bowl. Donovan McNabb had hi highest quarterback rating and the eagles had their best record with McNabb when he had Owens to go to.
Dallas’ Tony Romo hasn’t known life without Owens, but with him there, the Cowboys went to the playoffs two of his three seasons, although they failed to produce a win there.
Buffalo is hoping that Owens adds a similar benefit to young quarterback Trent Edwards (above). Last year. The Bills’ passing game was among the worst in the NFL, despite the presence of Lee Evans, who had over 1000 yards receiving and had an outstanding 16.1 yards per catch average, 11th best in the NFL. Owens presence should open up Evans and dramatically increase the passing game.
So is signing an aging Owens the best solution for a Buffalo team that looks to be building around talent youth? You bet it is. Not just because of what Owens adds in experience, and making those around him better, but because of his name and experience, Buffalo will have a better shot at signing other free agents. Free agents don’t just care about the money, but they like to go where they, and their team can find success.
And for Buffalo as a whole, they will no longer be an ignored team in the national picture. Merchandise sales go up….jerseys, shirts, etc…, in addition to long lost fans coming out of the closet and once again admitting they are a Bills fan.

I really admire this, I mean it really looks interesting! Very nice write up. Anyways, its a Great post.
