NFL Star Donte Stallworth Kills Pedestrian with His Bentley

Donte Stallworth, a wide receiver with the Cleveland Browns, hit and killed a pedestrian with his Bentley at about 7AM ET in Miami, Florida on Saturday morning.

He was driving on a busy street that links Miami and Miami Beach when he hit 59-year-old Mario Reyes. Reyes was taken to a nearby trauma center and pronounced dead about an hour later. Reyes was near a crosswalk, but it is unclear whether or not he was crossing the busy road legally.

Police tested Stallworth to see if he had either alcohol or drugs in his system. Results are expected back between three days and three weeks. The tests are said to be standard by officials. No charges have been filed at this time, but police are investigating.

It is unclear where Stallworth was coming from or going, but he owns two condos in the area.

The Browns released the following statement, “We understand the seriousness of this situation, but will not have any further comment at this time as this is an ongoing investigation,”

Stallworth’s agent Drew Rosenhaus did not return comment as of yet after a message was left for him.

Stallworth who was limited last season due to injury which held him to just 17 catches all year was set to start his second year in Cleveland. It is the second year of a seven year $35 million contract which coincidentally paid him a $4.75 million bonus on Friday.
